After tasting the most delicate matcha from an organic farm in Japan, our founder Li Gong had an epiphany. Encha Matcha was founded in 2014 when Li Gong left his Silicon Valley job and set out on a mission to bring high-quality, organically-farmed matcha to the masses.

Our goal is to share the same rich, tender matcha Li Gong first tasted with the world — from our farms in Uji, Japan to your cup at home. We use ancient traditions for growing shade-grown, hand-picked, stone-ground tea leaves — which makes all the difference for quality, flavor, and health benefits. Encha's matcha is USDA Certified Organic, meaning our farms are 100% certified organic, and we never use pesticides or synthetic fertilizers, regularly testing for heavy metals and harmful chemicals.

There are three grades of Encha matcha: Ceremonial, Latte, and Culinary. Ceremonial Grade is ground from premium, first harvest leaves, offering a delicate, smooth taste best enjoyed mixed with water. Latte Grade is ground from standard, first harvest leaves, picked each spring, and is best mixed with milk. Culinary Grade is ground from premium, second harvest leaves and has a subtly sweet, earthy taste, making it ideal for cooking and baking.

The key differences between matcha and green tea are that matcha leaves are shade grown, producing more theanine for a sense of serenity to balance the caffeine. Additionally, the stems are removed when making matcha powder, creating a softer flavor. Consuming matcha means consuming the whole leaf, providing additional health benefits like antioxidants.

Encha's products offer 6 hours of clean energy without jitters or crashes, thanks to the antioxidant-rich organic matcha. Our 30g Ceremonial Grade matcha lasts 2 weeks if you drink 1 tsp per day. Subscribe and save to ensure you always have matcha on hand.

As Li Gong says, "With Encha, I want us to show to the world that organic-only is possible, affordable and enjoyable. I want to grow the Encha community 'organically' through education and personalized support. My social science training at Stanford taught me a belief: Intrinsic value doesn't require extrinsic fanfare."

Encha Ceremonial Grade Matcha, Latte Grade Matcha, and Culinary Grade Matcha are all available for purchase. If you're unsatisfied, let us know and we'll make it right. Discover the rich, smooth, and balanced flavor of Encha's premium organic matcha today.
